Hall of Giants - Accrington
History
“The hyndburn brook splits near the m65. And following the other route upstream we arrive at the hall of giants. A culvert that takes the brook around 300m under a field. With the outfall being an imposing brick arch emerging out from beneath the field. And the in fall cascading down a steep waterfall into a deep pool. The culvert slightly bends to the right upstream revealing numerous smaller passageways through its large chamber. These don't currently lead anywhere and could be put down to surface water run off or drainage from former coal mine workings in the area”.
